Do the U.S.’s choice of state birds bother you? I sure hope so, because they totally bug me. Seven states sharing one bird? LAME! Birds barely present in the state they represent? LAME! A CHICKEN as a state bird? SUPER LAME! Sure, not every state messed it up, but most of them need serious help. So I’ve taken it on myself to offer some better choices, or else endorse the current choice where applicable.
Now I’m no expert on birds nationally, but I have a general degree of knowledge from some years as a birder, and a large library on North American birds to reference. I welcome whatever input you might have, and maybe we can get some momentum going for change.
